Alan Dunster’s Winning Tuba

This Tuba, presented by Alan Dunster won both the “Best Presented Find” and “Best Find” awards at last nights AGM – Well done Alan.

Desktop calendar wallpaper – January 2008

As well as the physical calendar, I have put together a monthly desktop wallpaper using some of the images from the 2007 photographic competition. Designed so that it can be chopped down to fit a minimum 1024 x 768 pixel resolution screen, it makes a useful, but not too obtrusive, on-screen calendar.

Antarctica – The Frozen Realm talk and slideshow.

Kevin Morgan is presenting a Talk/Slideshow on his recent travels entitled ‘Antarctica – The Frozen Realm’ to take place at the Clubhouse on Thursday 24th January – starting at 9.45pm – and the duration is about 1 1/4 hours – with a break halfway for drinks, so in two halves.

I am compiling a 2008 club calendar using the images from this years photographic competition.

A friend of mine is into cycling and when he heard that many K&E members are playing around on two wheels these days he suggested a ride out with his club – Velo Club Godalming & Haslemere.

They cycle both off-road and on-road, often at “recreational plus” pace, and even on midweek evenings with strong lights [...]

Mary Rose Trust 25th Anniversary Lecture

Location: At the Clubhouse Thursday 17th January 2008 at 8pm

The Mary Rose is the only 16th Century Warship on display anywhere in the world and was originally found by BSAC club members in 1965 Built between 1509 and 1511.

Chatham Dockyard & Ropery visit

Next Sunday we have another social event – this time it is the visit to Chatham Dockyard & Ropery.

There are 3 historic warships to visit, HMS CAVALIER, HMS GANNET & HMS OCELOT(sub), the Historic Dockyard itself, the Dockyard Museum, the Ropery & more.
