Diver Cox’s for 2010?

Last year, to support our club’s commitment to RIB diving we managed to qualify four people (myself included) as diver Cox’s and I would like us do the same in 2010.

I know lots of members have undergone a boat handling course, and have therefore expressed an intest in RIB diving and coxing, would you like [...]

Outboard & boat maintenance

There isn’t a lot going on in January, so do any of you boat handlers and new diver coxn fancy joining me at Crawley BSAC on 23rd Jan to do the Outboard and Boat maintenance course? If you intend using the RIBs next year it would be a bit embarrassing if the engine broke down [...]

No theory training this week

Just a quick reminder that there is no training this week.

It’s the club christmas do: turkey sandwiches and mince pies instead!

DiverSE 2010 date

Mark your diary. The date for 2010’s DiverSE conference is Sunday 14th March 2010

I recommend everyone consider going to this, I really enjoyed last years’ conference with author and explorer Monty Halls and technical diving guru Jack Ingle speaking. I have no information yet as to what 2010’s line-up will be, but there is always something to interest.

2010 SDC & ITS Events

You heard it here first – I have the BSAC South East Region programme for Skill Development Courses (SDCs) and Instructor Development Events (IDEs) – there are several scheduled to be run at our clubhouse (I have added them to the calendar), so very convenient for our members.

Compressor Update

You may be aware that there has been ongoing work to the bank cylinders and other compressor elements recently. This is required as part of a routine inspection and testing regime of the equipment (similar to your diving cylinders).  Our insurers require their own independent inspection of our facilities. The current validity of their inspection expires on [...]

Inside the Instructor Foundation Course

Eight brave (or daft!) club members attended the BSAC Instructor Foundation Course on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November in Hampton. We all know that diving can be quite tiring but, believe me, nothing compares with this weekend! We were warned it would be intense but even the itinerary, showing an 8.15am start [...]
