Problems Equalizing – One Member’s Suggestion
As many members whom I have dived with know, I suffer from equalization problems with my ears when descending on a dive (and have attended ENT at the hospital for nearly 30 years, though not for this).
Whilst on holiday in Lanzarote a few weeks ago, the owner of a dive school told me about Otovent; which is a natural way to treat negative pressure in the ear (usually caused by glue ear). The school, having an Otovent to hand, allowed me to try one and, I must say, there were signs of improvement. More so than anything else I have previously tried. So much so that I have purchased one on my return to the UK.
The plus, if it works, is that the treatment is perfectly natural and does not involve any drugs (something one does not need in diving). Furthermore, it can be longer lasting than other forms of treatment.
